Sprig Out at Your Favorite California Summer Festivals

Have you noticed the change in the air these past couple of weeks? The days are longer, the temperatures are rising, and the kids are spilling out of school for the year. This can mean only one thing: summer is finally here! And with it, comes the feeling of freedom and possibility. It also means that you have to get on top of your summer fun planning!

Here at Sprig HQ, one of our favorite things to do during the summer is to hit up one of the umpteen festivals that pop up this time of year throughout California, preferably with our favorite Sprig THC or CBD-infused beverage in hand! So we thought we would give you, our fellow Sprig enthusiasts, a rundown of the fests we plan on hitting up.

Music

There is no shortage of options when it comes to seeing our favorite bands come together and jam out for the summer crowds on a big open-air stage. While everyone knows that Coachella kicks off the season with a bang, the party lasts all summer long  and in our humble opinion, there is no better accessory for enjoying the below fests than an ice cold Sprig THC Citrus Zero Sugar, which amps up the bliss while cutting the sugar.

Kicking off our list, we are super psyched for Outside Lands, taking place in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco over the weekend of August 10th to 12th. The killer bill is topped by The Weeknd, Florence + the Machine and Janet Jackson, but is stuffed to the gills with supporting acts like Bon Iver, Future, Beck, Odesza, Chvrches, Jamie XX, Tycho, Father John Misty, Chromeo, and Amen Dunes. Outside Lands is always a good time and this year promises to be no exception.

On the heels of Outside Lands is the All My Friends Music Festival, occurring August 18th to 19th at ROW DTLA in (where else?) Downtown Los Angeles. AMFMF has an awesome lineup of rap, electronic, and pop artists, headlined by M.I.A., Jamie xx, RL Grime, and Gucci Mane, supported by newer favorites like Claptone and Moon Boots, along with KCRW DJ extraordinaire, Jason Bentley.
For those Sprigonauts with more eclectic tastes, the Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco puts on shows all summer long, including gigs featuring reggae master Ziggy Marley, sitar scion Anoushka Shankar, and afrobeat whiz Femi Kuti.
If you prefer to get into the groove with some jazz, the Monterrey Jazz Festival, the 61st iteration takes place September 21st to 23rd. This year’s program prominently features women of jazz, including Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, Cécile McLorin Salvant, and the Anat Cohen Tentet.

Food

One thing that can take a music fest to the next level is top notch munchies. The below fests highlight delicious food vendors alongside their outstanding musical lineups. When heading out to one of the below, we recommend throwing back a refreshing Sprig THC Original Citrus, to enhance the vibe and get you ready for some gastronomic good times!

Our friends at Goldenvoice are hosting Arroyo Seco Weekend at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on June 23rdto 24th. The lineup rocks out with headliners Neil Young, Jack White, Kings of Leon, and Robert Plant, along with Belle & Sebastien, Gary Clark Jr., Alanis Morissette, Sue Jorge, Capital Cities, and none other than Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Goldenvoice backs up that slate with a wide range of local purveyors of tasty treats, including Freedmans, Kogi, Ms Chi, Cassell’s, Hanjip, and Cal Mare.

A bit further south in Long Beach, over the weekend of September 29th to 30th, the Music Tastes Good festival brings together all time favorites New Order, James Blake, Broken Social Scene, Santigold, Parquet Courts, Cherry Glazer and De Lux. The fest’s Taste Tent will serve up grub from chefs from the entire West Coast, including those helming A Good Carrot, Long Beach Creamery, Tacos Sincero, Toro Bravo, Ma’Ono, Milk Money, and Independent.

Wellness

While food and music go a long way, sometimes what is needed is a reset of the mind and body, and the below wellness focused festivals seek to give you the tools needed to do just that. To help you find your center, we recommend pairing your wellness journey with a revitalizing Sprig CBD sparkling beverage!

The folks hosting the Wanderlust Squaw Valley have programmed a weekend overflowing with yoga and meditation classes, speaker engagements, ambient focused DJ sets, along with guided hikes, runs, and bike rides. Taking place over July 19th to 22nd, the Wanderlust folks aim to help you find your “true north” while taking in the magnificent scenery of North Lake Tahoe.

In the same vein, and over the same weekend, is the Northern Nights Music Festival, which takes place on a massive campground on the Humboldt/Mendocino county line. The fest’s program is a bit more music forward, with a lineup of indie electronic acts anchored by Emancipator, Justin Martin, Mr Carmack, Sage the Gemini, and Thomas Jack. For a holistic experience, the organizers have thrown in yoga sessions, art installations, and volunteer opportunities focused on community and sustainability.

While these are some of our favorites, we are always on the lookout for new festivals to fill out our summer weekends. So which festivals do you plan on hitting up? If you have any suggestions for your fellow Sprig fans, please leave them in the comments below and happy festing!
